Microsoft operates or is planning to run datacenters which provide Azure cloud services in 10 regions and 24 availability zones. Azure datacenters are, or will be present, in the following locations: Des Moines, Iowa; Richmond, Virginia; Atlanta, Georgia; Chicago, Illinois; San Antonio, Texas; Cheyenne, Wyoming; San Francisco, California; Moses Lake (Quincy), Washington; and Phoenix, Arizona.
Within these physical, well-known locations, are known as the Azure regions. These include Central US, East US, East US 2, North Central US, South Central US, West Central US, West US, West US 2, and West US 3. While Azure is establishing its next United States data center region, known as East US 3, in the metro Atlanta, Georgia area, with a presence in both Douglas and Fulton Counties.
